He also spent some years as staff photographer for the Philadelphia Enquirer. It is all the more surprising to discover that he is now based in the desolate and wild landscape of Northumberland, on the North East coast of Britain, where his focus is on sky, sea and the seasonal changes to the earth.
His lyrical work on the themes of landscape are a far cry from his sharp observations of American cities, people and urban situations, that culminated in Peronneau’s unique portfolio of studies of the great black athlete, Muhammad Ali.
