THE MATERIAL IS A TOUGH, rubberized skin that goes over the body of the camera and camera lens. I tested it with my 24-70. The Armor is a good idea if you are prone to shock, moisture, mud, and bumping into things. Even though most camera bodies are made of a good, solid material, why tempt fate with your expensive equipment - get that extra piece of insurance and slip the Camera Armor on. Built into the skin of Camera Armor are covers for all the buttons for the controls which match up exactly. The rear LCD has a special plastic panel to protect it as well and is easily viewable. This won't make a camera 100% waterproof, but it will help it when it starts to rain or you are working in a dusty or messy location. It will also help if you are bouncing around a lot. Camera Armor is not pricey and well worth keeping in the camera bag; designed for several different bodies and more are in the pipeline.
