Wacom Intuos3
On The Move

by KEN BROWNE

The new '4x6' Wacom Tablet is perfect for folks on the road or those that don't have a lot of room for a larger models.
Perfect for folks on the road.

THE INTUOS3 TABLETS sensitive grid has twice the amount of X-Y axes and resolution as the Intuos2, and that translates to greater precision. The '4x6' tablet keeps pace, matching the aspect ratio of widescreen and dual-display setups popular with photographers and graphic artists. It ships with a cordless rubberised grip pen, cordless five-button scroll wheel mouse and bundled software. An acrylic overlay gives the metallic gray tablet an elegantly clean look. The tablet measures 8.5 x 10.6 with an active pad area of 4' x 6'. Four programmable ExpressKeys and a finger-sensitive touch strip are on the left border. By default, the ExpressKeys are the equivalent of the Command (PC: Control), Option (PC: Alt) Shift and Spacebar keys, and the touch strip is for zooming and scrolling. The user can easily reprogram these for menu items or keyboard shortcuts by opening the Wacom driver and following the tutorial that installs with your tablet. The pen has an amazing 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity for a natural feel in controlling colour, line width and opacity. Wacom includes alternative nibs for creating different tactile feels. The pen defaults to absolute positioning, so a point on the tablet corresponds precisely to a point on your display.
