Canon XL H1S and XL H1A HD
Pro-quality Features

by Clair Janchote

Canon has announced two new additions to its High Definition XL series camcorder range.

Re-designed using feedback from professional cameramen

The XL H1S is designed for studio-based professional broadcast cameramen and the XL H1A for independent filmmakers and fieldwork cameramen.

These new camcorders replace the XL H1 and both have been re-designed using feedback from professional cameramen.

The main changes from the former XL H1 include a new 20x L-series Video Lens that incorporates three separate focus, zoom and iris control rings. In addition to this the two-channel XLR audio recording now features independent limiters and auto/manual settings, allowing enhanced control over sound recording.

Both models share a 1/3” 1.67 Megapixel 3CCD system, for HD 1080i image capture with the XL H1S featuring Canon’s Professional Jackpack - a full suite of studio standard connections.
