WORKS BY Christo, John Baldessari, Bernd & Hilla Becher and Gugi Winkler are offered at the Contemporary Art Sale auction on 2 July.
In Christo’s Surrounded Islands (Project for Biscayne Bay) and The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) photographs were used as a background that is hand-coloured and further worked on. The reserve on these is £40,000-60,000.
Bernd and Hilla Becher piece - estimated at £50,000-70,000 - is typical of their work – a series of black and white silver gelatin photographs of 15 buildings with an identical function – this time stone breakers.
