Most of the people who know NY-based Elizabeth Peyton know her as an artist who paints

THAT IS until now. Since 1994, Peyton has been extensively taking photos of people around her, mostly other artists. Her first photographic exhibition, at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, is introducing 50 of these portraits.

The Museum director, Richard Klein, said they are ‘unique, due to the way that they are in fact acts of devotion based in a Platonic eros: a fundamental creative impulse with an intensely sensual character.’
